In the past couple of weeks, Luke has started attempting to actually play with us. How this works is that Luke will hand a toy to one of us to look at. We will either be prompted by Luke to just look at the toy or to take the toy. If he wants you to take the toy, your role is to look at/comment on the toy and then hand it back to Luke. Then today we were playing with the Little People Ramps Around Garage. I would push the truck down the ramp, Luke would giggle, and then he would grab the truck and give it to me so we could repeat the event.

This morning I was cutting up some banana for my cereal and decided to cut a few small pieces for Luke to try. He gobbled them up and clapped his hands. I guess he liked them.

Yesterday Luke turned 9 months old and celebrated by taking a trip to see Dr. Pettit for a checkup. Luke continues to be around 50th percentile for height (around 28 inches now) and between 25-50th percentile for weight (19 pounds, 3 ounces now). He is developing on schedule and doing great. Luke is now crawling really fast (nickname: Turbo Crawler) and trying to pull onto his feet. His favorite place to climb is Brooke’s chair in the living room. Luke loves food, especially fruits and cereals. He is now eating Gerber Graduates puffs and starting to eat some 3rd stage foods. Luke has his two bottom teeth now, but that one on top seems to have vanished under the gums again (weird). Luke loves his big sister and his big dog, Bella. In general, Luke loves whatever Brooke loves. He responds gleefully to Brooke’s favorite tv shows (Luke seems to like Dora, Backyardigans, and Blues Clues the best). Luke loves music and will clap or bang on whatever is handy when he hears a catchy tune. Overall, he is a laid-back and content baby who adds a lot of laughter and fun to the family. His physical development is happening so fast now, and it is exciting to see what each week will bring.

Luke’s second tooth has just broken the surface. It is on top right above his existing tooth. Snaggle tooth will be lonely no more.
